Women today are more often treated by men as equals rather that objects.
I agree to some extent. Most women are treated as equals and respected as such. Women aren't treated as much as objects but are treated as less than men. Although some women today are still treated as objects. Women are sometimes expected to be housewives and have the man care for them. While many women care for children and the household, women who work are frowned upon (sometimes).
Women still get payed less than men for doing the same jobs. There are also some jobs that women aren't as respected in such as doctors, many people don't trust women as doctors. Jobs such as scientist, CEO, doctor, engineer, and mechanics. Women are almost expected to be an assistant to men in many jobs such as dental hygienist (dentist) and nurses (doctors). Many of those jobs the women do most of the work while the men take the credit.

I agree to this topic because I think women are treated more as equal than they were.
ReplyDeleteYea. Have you ever heard the story of the artist famous for her big-eyed people? Her husband took credit for her work so they would sell, but when she wanted credit, he got mad.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree Kaitlyn! I think that another battle or women is stereotypes. I think that people are becoming more and more open mined to woman working jobs like you mentioned, (Doctor, CEO etc.) But the stereotype is that these jobs are for men. I remember on our first day in Science this year Mr. Clarke asked us to draw what a scientist looked like. Only one person drew a woman. Hmm. There is defiantly something wrong with that. I think that is we all took a test we would all pass, saying OF COURSE women could be doctors and CEOs and such. However, to change our social norms, we must first change the way we think. Great post!
ReplyDeleteI couldn't agree more. In society we are treated like we are too weak to do smart things even though girls are usually smarter than boys in school or that girls aren't athletic. We have shown society and men that they were wrong!!
